Privacy Policy

Summary

WeighMyPrompt processes all prompt content entirely in your browser — your prompts are never sent to any server. We use third-party services (Google Analytics and Google AdSense) to measure traffic and serve ads; both use cookies when enabled.

What we collect ourselves

Nothing directly. There is no backend, no database, and no first-party tracking. We don't have user accounts, we don't log IP addresses, and we don't store your prompt content anywhere off your device.

Third-party services

We use the following third-party services, which have their own privacy policies:

  • Google Analytics — measures aggregate page-view counts with anonymize_ip enabled. Loaded only if you consent via the cookie banner. See Google's privacy policy.
  • Google AdSense — serves ads. Google and its partners may use cookies to serve ads based on prior visits to this site or other sites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads based on user activity across the web. You can opt out of personalized ads at Google Ads Settings.   • Google Fonts — serves typefaces. Google logs font requests server-side (not tied to an account).

We never sell or share personal data ourselves because we never collect it. The only personal-adjacent data that exists is what Google collects via the services above, governed by Google's policies.

Cookies

We use two types of cookies, both loaded only if you consent to analytics or if ads are served:

  • Analytics cookies (Google Analytics) — measure page views. No personally identifiable information.
  • Advertising cookies (Google AdSense) — personalize ads. You can disable personalized ads at Google Ads Settings. Even with personalization off, non-personalized ads may still appear.

Local Storage

The app uses your browser's localStorage to save your preferences (theme, output ratio), prompt history, saved snippets, versions, and session metrics. This data never leaves your browser and is not accessible to us or anyone else. You can clear it at any time via your browser settings or through the app's UI.

Prompt content stays in your browser

Prompt text you enter into the token counter is tokenized entirely in your browser using a WebAssembly module (tiktoken). Your prompt text is never sent to any server — not ours, not Google's, nobody's. Inspect the Network tab in your browser's devtools to verify.

API Snippets

The "Copy as curl/Python/Node.js" feature generates code snippets locally. The snippets contain placeholder API keys ($OPENAI_API_KEY, etc.) and are copied to your clipboard only. No API calls are made by WeighMyPrompt.

Children

WeighMyPrompt is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly allow children to interact with personalized advertising.

Your rights (GDPR / CCPA)

Since we don't collect personal data ourselves, there's nothing to access, correct, or delete on our end. For data collected by Google (Analytics, AdSense), consult Google's privacy tools.

Changes

If this policy changes, the updated date at the top will reflect the change. Major changes will be communicated via a banner on the site.
